What P0300 actually says
P0300 is the generic OBD-II code for a random or multiple cylinder misfire. It reports that the engine computer detected a misfire pattern without providing a reliable specific- cylinder answer in the generic code list.
The regulation generally requires cylinder identification, but it also allows a general misfire code when the cylinder cannot be identified reliably, and a multiple-cylinder code does not have to list each participating cylinder. So P0300 alone does not prove that the misfire is evenly distributed or that a single-cylinder fault is absent.
